Ten most recent additions to my bookshelf

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today I’m talking about the ten most recent additions to my bookshelf. I was lucky enough to get some great bookish gifts from friends over the holidays, so most of these additions are from that!

Mermaid Inn by Jenny Holiday

This was an ARC from Forever/Grand Central Publishing, and I actually got my copy before Jenny even got hers! HA! Jenny Holiday is one of my fave contemporary romance writers so I was SUPER excited to get this first book in her new series, Matchmaker Bay. I’m reading it right now and it’s giving me major summer vibes – totally necessary in this bleak Minnesota January, which may as well be Hoth.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

I have the BEST online bookish friends! This was a surprise random act of kindness gift from Patricia (@bookishgeek) in response to one of those “post a link to your wishlist and I’ll choose a few people to send books to!” threads floating around Twitter… I think, haha. Really Patricia is just a ridiculously nice person, and this book is gooooorrrrgeous. I haven’t started it yet, but it’s definitely near the top of my TBR.

Sweet Ruin by Kresley Cole

My #otspsecretseister Tula (@tshamhart28) sent me a lovely trio of red-white-and-green books for my December Secret Sister box, and this was one of them. It fits the Christmas theme because the cover is a very candy cane-like red and white, obviously, haha! Sweet Ruin is actually book 15 in Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series, and I’m only on book 8 (Pleasure of a Dark Prince), so it will be a while before I get to this one.

Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas

Another gift from my Secret Sis Tula. Lisa Kleypas was one of the first authors I read who got me hooked on the romance genre, and I thought I’d read most of her backlist so when I stumbled across this little gem published in 2001 I knew I had to have it! Red cover for the Christmassy theme, obvs.

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

This was the final book in my December package from #otspss Tula, and the green cover rounded out the Christmas book cover aesthetic quite nicely, haha. This one’s been on my list for a while but a lot of my Goodreads friends gave it mediocre reviews, so I’m not going to lie – it will probably be a while before I pick this one up. It sure looks pretty sitting on my shelf though… (Yes, yes, I know, I’m a total book hoarder.)

Sea Witch Rising by Sarah Henning

Jody (@onegirlreads) was my first Secret Sis in the #otspsecretsister project, and she gave me Sea Witch in one of her boxes many moons ago, so she felt it was only fitting that she also give me the sequel! I read the first one at a readathon so I really should have read this one last weekend for that same readathon – DANG! Missed the opportunity for continuity! Anyway, I’m really excited to read this next installment to a FABULOUS debut by Sarah Henning.

Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde

This was my second year of doing the #tbtbsanta bookish gift exchange, and my santa this year, Beth (@ArtemisHi) sent me the absolute BEST, most NERDIEST holiday gift I’ve ever had the honor of receiving. Seriously, it was bonkers how amazing it was. The tag on this one said “Mysterious Tome.” This book has been on my wishlist for so long I honestly don’t really even remember what it’s about, just that I loved the fantasy hair on the cover and it’s about a geek so it must be good!

Attempting Elizabeth by Jessica Grey

Another holiday gift in my #tbtbsanta box from Beth, the tag on this one said “Unknown Scroll.” I’d never heard of Attempting Elizabeth but after reading the backcover blurb I’m excited to read this! Another geeky heroine with a love of Jane Austen books, who is somehow apparently transported into her favorite novel? Um, yes please!

Temptations of a Wallflower by Eva Leigh

I’ve been trying not to buy books, but you know, sometimes you just have to give in to the Black Friday sale at BookOutlet… I recently read My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh and it was one of my *favorite* books of 2019, so of course I immediately needed to get more books off her backlist.

Mad Love by Paul Dini and Pat Cadigan

I actually bought a whole stack of Harley Quinn comics from BookOutlet on Black Friday and this is just one of the books from that order. I also got 14 Harley Quinn graphic novels, in addition to this and Temptations of a Wallflower, but this says *10* most recent additions so I picked this one that’s actually a novel and not a graphic novel because, um, actual reasons. Definitely not just because it was the one with the easiest to read title in the photo I took of the stack… *shifty eyes*

So there you have it! These are the ten most recent additions to my physical bookshelf. I thought about also doing this for the ten most recent additions to my electronic bookshelf, but people gifted me a LOT of books in Dec/Jan, haha. If you really want to see my ten most recent electronic bookshelf additions, let me know in the comments and I’ll do another post. 🙂
