Readathon: #MagicalReadathon: Orilium – The Novice Path

I am very excited about this readathon!

Hosted by @MagicalReadthn on Twitter, there’s a whole big backstory and everything! Check out the announcement video on YouTube – the description also includes links to some downloadable as well as a text version of the story in the video for, uh, those of us who don’t have the patience for BookTube, haha!

Basically, the Magical Readathon is a whole big THING. The imminent piece is the Novice Path portion, which takes place Sept 1 – Sept 30, 2021. There’s another aspect which is the character creation, which you have until April 2022 to complete, and in 2022 there will be more readathons to continue to grow and advance your character! Such a fun and creative idea, I love it. πŸ™‚

Meet my character, Avaenn!

Avaenn is a Dwarf that hails from an Urban area of Kerador! I’ve got until April of 2022 to fulfill these character creation prompts, so I’ll probably focus on them after the September part of the readathon is over… πŸ˜‰

O – Heritage – Dwarf: read a science fiction. (TBR: Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey)

O – Province – Kerador: read a book from an ongoing series (TBR: Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire)

O – Background – Urban: book set in a city or town (Artemis by Andy Weir – read 9/13/21)

For The Novice Path, you only need to complete two of the prompts… But I set a TBR for all of them, haha. I’m going to try to complete all seven, but if I only complete two I’m going to count that as a success. πŸ™‚ Update: I completed all seven prompts, AND I did them in order!! I am so incredibly impressed with myself, lol. Time to start the character background prompts!

The Novice Path TBR

O – The Novice Path Entrance: read a book with a map. (Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim, read 9/1/21)

O – Ashtorn Tree: a book that keeps tempting you (or top of your TBR). (People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry, read 9/2/21)

O –  The Mist of Solitude: read a standalone. (A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow read 9/4/21)

O – Ruin of the Skye: read a book featuring ghosts/haunted house, or other supernatural elements.  (Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson read 9/6/21)

O – Obsidian Falls: read a thriller or a mystery book. (Contagion by Erin Bowman read 9/6/21)

O – Tower of Rumination: read a five star prediction. (Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune read 9/10/21)

O – Orilium Academy Arc: book with a school setting. (Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire read 9/10/21)

Well I’m ready for an ADVENTURE – how about you?

  1. YES! I’ve been excited about this one (I got heavily into it when she hosted it in 2019 because the level of detail and thought is magnificent), and I totally forgot today is Sept 1, so I need to scramble to figure out my reading path and make a character. πŸ˜€
Good idea, making it a post, too….that always makes me feel more accountable with reading challenges.
